E X P E R I E N C E

Creative Director, Menswear  |  VINCE                            2/2016 – 9/2017  

 Re-engaged as a design consultant and creative director for the menswear division. Provides direction to the design team and SVP of design to develop apparel concepts and create four cohesive collections per year for the luxury brand.

Articulates seasonal line direction to product developers and merchants to ensure styles align with vision. 

Oversees a small denim division and provides creative direction around fits, washes, and packaging. 

Sources fabrics with emphasis on quality and color direction.

Supervises fittings from development through production; works with models and styles seasonal collections in preparation for look book photo shoots and buyer consultations (Saks, Barney’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus).

Works with licensing partners to provide feedback and guide overall direction of licensed collections. 

VP Men’s Design  |  M.NII                                2014 – 2015

Consulted as creative director and design lead for the men’s division following departure of the brand’s founder. Focused on repositioning a mature niche vintage surf brand as a key player in the contemporary lifestyle marketplace. 

Expanded the menswear collection to include new original styles while still incorporating the brand’s classic aesthetic. 

Directed all aspects of design and development from concept through production.

Provided direction to a product development associate and production partners in Los Angeles. 

Guided efforts to move production overseas to enable greater cost savings and growth. 

VP Men’s Design  |  VINCE                                2007 – 2013  

Hired by company founders as the sole designer to build out a menswear division and extension of the highly successful women’s label. Progressed through multiple roles as creative and design lead, overseeing a team of design assistants, technical designers, product developers, and patternmakers in producing four collections per year. 

Integral in transforming the menswear division from a complementary knitwear brand into an established sportswear collection with over $35M in annual revenue; established a brand vision that set the foundation for future growth. 

Introduced a line of woven tops and expanded the category to include outerwear, leather jackets, and bottoms. 

Developed design concepts for all collections and produced sketches for technical designers and product developers. 

Assembled and led a team of production staff, apparel and technical designers, patternmakers, cutters, and sewers.

Traveled to the New York showroom to assist stylists and accompany the sales team during showings. 

Design Director  |  EVER                                    2004 – 2007   

Recruited by former Quicksilver design lead to build out an emerging contemporary men’s brand backed by Lucky Brand founders. Led a team of technical and graphic designers, pattern makers, sewers, and product developers in producing and photographing four collections per year across all categories (cut and sew knits, wovens, denim).  

Gained a comprehensive understanding of denim cuts and washes.

Supervised domestic production (cutting, sewing, washing) in downtown Los Angeles.

Worked with Italian and Japanese mills to produce garments; traveled to China to meet with production partners. 

Menswear Designer  |  QUICKSILVER                            2000 – 2004   

Designed the walk short, pant, and jacket categories for the leader in the action sports apparel industry.
